As an Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA),at the direction of the Occupational Therapist and/or the Director of Rehabilitation Services, your primary purpose is to be responsible for direct resident care by administering the therapy outlined in the plan of care to assist the resident to develop or regain functioning to perform activities of daily living.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Responsible for direct resident care by administering the therapy outlined in the plan of care to assist the resident to develop or regain functioning to perform activities of daily living.
• Administration of occupational therapy treatments to residents as outlined by the physician’s orders and the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist.
• Reports information related to the Occupational Therapist regarding the resident’s progress, complications and/or response to treatment.
• Assist the Occupational Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure the safe and effective evaluation and treatment of residents.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility and physician-related information.
• Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with procedures on a daily basis.
• Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team.
• Attends and participates in family meetings as appropriate.
• Adheres to documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation Department and the facility
• Expected to meet productivity standards as established by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
• Attend in-service/educational programs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to push/pull equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary. Be able to sit, bend, and stoop. Stand and/or walk for six (6) hours or more daily. Must be able to sit and keyboard/use the computer for two(2) hours per day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the District of Columbia in good standing
• Proficient with MS Office Suite and Outlook. Point Click Care experience preferred.

As a Physical Therapist (PT), your primary purpose is to plan and administer medically prescribed therapy to restore resident function, alleviate pain and prevent disabilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assumes responsibility for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility residents needing physical therapy services.
• Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine the need for services and the ability to benefit from skilled services.
• Performs resident evaluations under physician order and develops a treatment plan in accordance with resident needs.
• Implements treatment plan through direct treatment and education of treatment staff.
• Helps the resident accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging and assisting the resident in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Participates in the discharge planning in collaboration with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
• Documents resident care services by charting in resident and department records.
• Maintains confidentiality of all resident, facility and physical related information.
• Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with facility procedures on a daily basis.*

Must be a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in the District of Columbia in good standing.
